Practice Profile

Karen commenced full practice in 2016 after completing her pupillage with Ms Anita Yip S.C., Mr Derek Chan S.C., Mr Erik Shum, and Mr Simon Lam. 

Karen is developing a predominantly civil practice and accepts instructions in all areas of Chambers’ work. She has a broad civil exposure with a particular focus on matrimonial law. Karen has been involved in various matrimonial cases including:-

      1. Custody, and care and control proceedings between married or unmarried couples;
      2. Wardship proceedings;
      3. Hague Convention;
      4. Parentage orders; and
      5. Financial and ancillary relief proceedings involving local and cross-border marriages.

Karen has appeared in the High Court, the District Court, the Family Court and the Magistrates’ Court.

Selected Cases

YYW v HWW (unrep., HCMP 409/2017, B Chu J)
as the sole advocate in a child abduction case, appearing on behalf of a Korean father seeking the return of his children from Hong Kong.

GKLJ v. WE (formerly known as WFYE) (unrep., CAMP 19/2018, 23 March 2018) 
– as the junior counsel, led by Ms Anita Yip S.C. in a children matter representing the respondent mother in the family court and thereafter seeking leave to appeal from the Court of Appeal.
